I went to one of my Quilting Groups last night (I belong to two of them) and I took my squares that I had already cut out and I showed them to the leader and she told me that they were fine. She said that if they are off just a tid bit than that is fine. I need to get busy this weekend and get my line marked on them so I can sew straight by hand.

I learned several things last night...

Here is a really neat idea:

Take all of your scraps, cut them up in different sizes/shapes...no circles though....and than you take those pieces of scraps and you sew them together to make a square and than you square it off after you get your little pieces of scraps sewed together. It is the neatest idea. This lady made several squares and she had different shapes of material, sewed in every direction that you can imagine, she had small one inch squares, she had 1 inch size strips, she had like a half triangle shapes and she just sewed them together to make her square.

Than she showed me and a few other ladies how to sew on a tube as she calls it...half of the small strip is sewed on one side of the material and the other half is sewed on the other side...she also put two different colors and did it that way too.

This Quilter had all of her squares that she made out of her scraps of material and they were so neat. She sewed them with black thread and did it by sewing machine. She has the ole time Singer Sewing Machine. She also had the Press Board thingy and a small iron too.

I am going to talk to her next wek if she is there and see if I can't borrow one of her squares just to go by. If I can than I'll take a picture of it and post it so you know what I'm talking about. I am dying to make a square like she did. They are so neat looking and it is really amazing what you can do with scraps of material for a 5 inch size square.

When I get more of my squares sewed together than I will post a picture of it. I am doing this slowly so that way I know that I'm doing it right. I go early to the Quilting Group so I can ask questions about my squares if I need to.

Well that is all for now.

:)

Being a newbie also, I can't wait to see what you are talking about. If I don't have to think too much I'm having a good day. Keep us posted!

If you like scrappy squares, check out Bev's Wonky Block tutorial here on the board. It's pretty cool.
