Default Using heavy gauge vinyl for FMQ...question

I bought some heavy gauge vinyl from Joann's last year, cut it down and I used it for FMQ. Well, in the meantime I moved and it has been a few mons since I have done any free motion quilting. I found my piece but it is not as slippery as it used to be. Does this need to be replaced periodically?

The commercial slider sheets need to be washed occasionally. They are silcone, not vinyl, but hey, I'd try and just wash it first with a few drops of dish washing liquid, and rinse well. I wouldn't try to use any type of polish, I'd be afraid it would rub off on my fabric.

One side of mine seems slipperier than the other. I make sure that side is up.
