I recently received some kits from Quilts for Kids, tops went together very quickly. Started quilting the first top and decided to try spray basting for the first time. Well, after the first few row of stitching was ripped out, thought my machine tension had somehow gotten messed with. I adjusted my tension, thoroughly cleaned and oiled the machine, tested it on a small sandwich and all looked good. Started again, did the same thing, now have figured out that my machine just doesn't like that spray basting stuff or maybe I just used too much. Anyway, washed by hand and line dried the backing, new batting, got it quilted just fine.....went to finish with the binding and it's no where to be found!!!! I had been keeping it in the bags that the quilt fabric came in, have no clue where it went! Guess I will keep looking for another day before I look for something else to use! Ever start a project that should have been so simple and it turns into a headache where you just wonder why you even got out of bed in the morning????? I'll persevere though, I love the idea the quilts going to kids in need of comfort!

The kits I've gotten from QFK don't have binding fabric. They send fabric for a 1.5" inner border and a 3.5" outer border. I think directions say to pull the backing fabric around to the front to bind, or to use something from your stash. So don't spend too much time looking... :-D :-D

they don't give you binding.

they want you to turn the backing fabric to the front for binding, like stated above, or to sew right sides together and turn out like a pillow

I was just finishing up a pieced border and lost 3 blocks somewhere. I know that I made them because I made 4 of each color. I went to iron them and the green ones were not there. I have no clue at all where they are. I made 4 more and just finished up the quilt. I thought they would turn up as soon as I didn't need them, but it didn't happen.

I make my own binding and yes I have had trouble with the sewing gremlins too. One time I was missing a pair of small scissors, a seam ripper, and some thing else and it was months before I found them and they were in the big scrap catcher that is on my serger. Another time I was looking for my plastic templates and it again was a while before I found those and those were in a reticule bag that I have hanging on the door knob and just the other day my paper scissors came up missing and I found those laying on top of my 9 and 20 degree wedge rulers. Funny how thigs like this happens. Some time it is hard to keep things where they belong as they get moved a lot and I forget where it is. Grrr....Huggies, Fay
