Has anyone actually printed on vellum (ink jet) and used it for paper piecing? I saw a video and was wondering if it tore easily, as I have a bunch of it just sitting there in my closet collecting dust and I'd like to use it.

Thanks

There is discussion about using vellum in the Dear Jane threads. I've been using regular paper, but have decided it's too heavy for tiny pieces and am just waiting for a trip to town then will pick some up and give it a try. Here's a link to where the discussion starts:

I use velum and looooooove it. Don't think I'd use much else. It's very thin light velum.

Thanks! I have some very thin vellum and I tried printing on it today. Worked great. I'm going to try to pp on it. I'm working on a small mystery quilt.

Vellum is a very thin, cloudy, nearly transparent paper, now used in scrapbooking, crafts, and invitations. Used to be used to make copies in the typewriter, because it was thin and took less room in files. It is crisp, goes through the printer fairly well, and tears away easily for paperpiecing for quilting. Also can be used for tracing patterns, etc. beause of its transparency.

I love paper piecing. I have tried different kinds of paper such as newsprint, puter paper, Carol Doak and my very favorite is Vellum! It is so easy to see and holds up thru mistakes..but is still easy to tear away. I always shorten my stitches no matter what kind of paper.OH and yes I run it through the printer.
