There is a book called "Demystifying Pictograms" that I no longer have - sold it back in 2004.

Demystifying Pictograms for the Viking Rose & 500 by Miriam B. Creech

Viking used to sell a kit for this purpose. Seems to me that there was non woven fabric and instructions. Basically, the instructions lead you thru all the stitches and you stitched a row of each on the non woven then wrote the info regarding the stitch next to it. You created your own catalog of stitches. I would just get some non woven interfacing and just make your own. As I recall it took a long time. Maybe do 3 or 4 combos per day.

One web site that really helped me with my Viking #1plus is sewmuch4retirement.com. They offer tips and even sell CD's for different ones. I bought the one for my machine and it is easy to understand and has alot of info. I'm not sure if what you are talking about is pictograms but they have alot on that. Also I know there are yahoo groups for my machine so there are probably ones for yours as well

Check with your local viking dealer. Rose has been discontinued so you might be able to get in touch with the home office.

For May re fabric at Joann's. Joann's went private on 1 Jan 2011 and Green Holding Company brought it. I feel that Green Holding Company has ordered cheaper material as I have one pattern in purple that I love and the background material was a very bad greige cotton. Also, I think they have lowered the warm and natural battering to not be 100% cotton but a mixture and the last 3 quilts that I did with warm and natural it beaded like crazy. I wrote warm and natural company but as of this date have not received a reply

Re: viking stitches...There is no chart for what you want. You have to experiment yourself and keep track of the combinations by using the favorite stitches.

Re: Warm & Natural batting now has 14% poly added to it....that's why you shouldn't use it for the microwave baked potato bags.

Thanks y'all.
I have the manual and understand how to make combinations.. I was just really hoping there was some sort of pre-made chart with some/several creative combos listed.

Demystifying Pictograms for the Viking Rose would be a great book.. if it could be found!
Seems it's been out of print for well over a decade!

I guess this is what I get for buying a machine that, although in excellent condition and sews beautifully, is obsolete. :(
But hey, the price was right and I'm loving it!
