Hi, I would like to replace the oiling felt in the bobbin area of my model 66 machines. I can't find any info on this subject. An internet "search" shows warnings to not remove it but I can't find any info on how to replace it. Does anyone know where to purchase replacement felt and how to replace it? I have tried to disassemble the machine but was never able to remove the part that has the wire coil for holding the felt. Thanks in advance for your help!

There was a tutorial on just the other day and she showed how to do that if i'm not mistaken. Her name started with a "M" and she has a british accent. I'll see if I can find it.

I haven't watched the videos, but that would MUV. Let me see if I have them saved for when I start on my machines.
Here you go. If it's not in this one, it may be linked. She has done several. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bidpJ..._order&list=UL

Yep, that's her. In there she showed pulling that stuff out of the bobbin area and stuffing it with some kind of yarn I think. Hope that's what you're looking for.

Thank you so much Carreen and IrishRose. I am impressed with your memories and that you found it !!! That was a very informative video and I enjoyed watching it very much. My machine is a model 66 drop-in bobbin and the oiling felt is held differently than the shuttle model being demonstrated in the video. I will have to keep looking. Thanks so much for your effort to help me!

I think you would be safe replacing it with any clean bit of felted wool. (The old felt was wool) Then oil it till it is damp and it should be just fine.
