You can call the Singer company and get the birthdate of your machine. You must have the serial number, of course. The Singer # is 1-800-4-SING

Here is the link to find out when your machine is made:

    http://singersewingmachine.com/manufacture.htm

under your serial # it states: Beginning 1935

Singer has changed their site around so it looks different now.

Just today i went to www.mySINGERstory.com
I put in the serial number, it gave me the year of manufacture.
They then let me download a certificate with my name and the year on it. Totally sweet.
IF you tell them your singer story, they will enter you to win their 160th year anniversary sewing machine.
