For my next project, I'd like to try my hand at a wall hanging. What would be a good project to start with? I don't want to do a simple quilt pattern, do I?

That's really a broad question there - not knowing what you would like to actually hang it is hard to suggest something.

I'd suggest picking out some blocks that appeal to you and make a few blocks and border them out and bam you have a wall hanging. Since it is a smaller project than a quilt you can really push yourself and pick out some intricate ones.

I have a list of free tutorials/patterns for wall hanging links on my personal site. Maybe one will help you narrow it down?

Don't forget about the holidays... the fall always gets backed up and you might not have time to make anything seasonal ;)

Thanks for the link, Deb. I can't wait to go through the list. Since I don't know where I want to start, your list will be very helpful.

You can do anything you want for a wall hanging. It can be a quilt pattern with less blocks, or applique, or anything.

When I attempt a wall hanging I approach the most tedious pattern I have ever seen. A wall hanging, no problem. A full sized quilt, probably not.

This is a good point. I've been wanting to do a paper piecing project, but I'm afraid of the big task in doing a full sized quilt. Maybe I'll do a wall hanging instead.

A carpenter's wheel works well. Make the squares 4 or 5 inches and it makes a nice hanging
