Went to walmart this evening not meaning to go into the fabric department but found myself there any way. They have fabric on clearance for $1.00 a yard. I got too excited only got a few yards. Can't afford very much right now but I couldn't pass that up. There is this fabric with purple an yellow flowers like 5 different prints. Have to mention the others, there was about 10 different prints for the same price. Oh man why does this always happen when I am broke. Its not like I am hurting for fabric I just can't resist.
If you live near a WM that still has fabric you might want to check it out.
Happy shopping
Carrie
P.S. Maybe I should have posted this in the fabricholic thread.

I wish our WalMarts still had fabric. There are several within reasonable driving distance and all have discontinued carrying fabric.

In my local Walmart today, with bad news. They are discontinuing the fabric department. Spoke with the fabric cutter, very sad day for her, she advised for all of us missing our walmart fabric departments to call: 1-800-walmart and let them know where you store is, and that you want your fabric departments back, the more calls, the more they will listen (at least according to her). Believe me, I called three times just today.

I just went and bought 10 yards for $10. I will use it for quilt backs, as it is very soft but not too tightly woven.

You can also use the "contact us" email on Walmart's website to let them know you want the fabric section retained in your local store. If enough people complain vocally enough they will reconsider. Ours was supposed to close about 3 years ago, lots of folk complained, we still have fabric. Closest other source of fabric at least 30 miles away may have been a factor as well.

We are losing our fabric department also, we called the 1-800 number and emailed them and sign a petiton, but no luck! our fabric is 50% off right now, so I have been stocking up! I guess now have to buy online! I will look for made in the USA and USA based companies!

We still have our small fabric section in walmart in livermore. Was out there on tuesday with my grandaughter and found material for $1.00 a yard with wonderful prints and blender shades. bought $50.00 dollars worth. what a steal. Grandaughter thought I was nuts, what a compliment to my stash. woo-hoo

Was in my local walmart yesterday which has fabric. They were completing inventory (all over the store) and had very little of anything (isn't this a little dumb on their part so close to mom's day?). But I found some fabric I liked anyway but mine was $4.44/yd.

My WMart had abt 16 bolts set aside that were $1-2/yd. I scarfed up a bunch of black and white prints that were pretty good quality!

When you stumble upon a sale like this and you have stash building in mind, how much of ea piece do you usually buy? I guessed that a yd of ea was a good place to begin. Comments?
