I want to attempt to make a quick quilt that will fit the bottom part of a casket. I have looked online but not finding what I need. Has anyone ever made one?

I have no clue, but I found this by googling. Scroll down. It will give you an idea. And it would be easy enough to either google for casket size, or call a local funeral home. I 'm sure they would be pleased to give you dimensions.

When you say, bottom part ... are you meaning on the outside, the part that covers the lower part of the deceased's body, instead of where the traditional floral spray goes?

A full size quilt looks lovely over the top and I've often seen this done.

Recently, a lady in our area passed who was an avid quilter. They had several of her quilts draped around the casket and flowers. In her hand was a block for a quilt ... the last block for a quilt she had been working on. How touching!! The block will not be buried with her, and someone will be finishing the quilt she was so closed to completing.

I used a 'lap size' quilt for my mom's casket. It was folded in half and draped over the bottom half of the casket. Then when we went to the graveside service it was draping the entire casket. She had fallen in love with this quilt and it was the last one I made before her passing.

the quilt was a simple five fabric quilt of yellows and bluess and white and sparkled in the sunlight. It really brightened my mood.

My daughter had a baby who died the first day. The little casket was only the size of a tissue box. I made a little quilt to drape the entire casket as it was very plain. The quilt was buried with the casket. I also made a matching quilt for my daughter to keep.

I was hoping to make a smaller type quilt to cover the outside part of the casket that stays closed. I did make a lap quilt that was placed on my mothers casket (folded). For the sake of time, wanted to make something quick and a bit smaller than a lap size.

Do you want it to cover the entire bottom part? If you didn't, maybe you could do something like a bedrunner. It would be narrower than the bottom but it could be made long enough to drape nicely and I don't think it would take too much time. Depending on the pattern, etc.
