I was trimming the batting for "foldover of backing binding," by inserting small cutting mat between backing and batting, lining up ruler with top and slicing off with rotary cutter, moving mat, etc. I was interrupted and -- you know where I'm going, don't you? I forgot to place mat BETWEEN backing and batting and sliced a good long hunk of backing even with batting. Second photo is of only fabric left from this project, made from bits I've had for years. Any ideas?

I would then bind it with black to make it look framed. Of course, folding front to back.

I would cut that much off the opposite corner diagonally and sew a strip of the pink to to the ends of the brown binding. It would be balanced and add lots of interest.

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade! I like the idea of piecing the binding.

The pieced binding would look great. What a wonderful idea.

I would go ahead and cut it all off and bind it the other way.

What a great idea! Thank you, BellaBoo. I'll post a picture when I finish.

Ooops...sorry to say I have done something similar. It is a bummer. On mine I put some fusible interfacing and did some darning stitching. It turned out ok...it wasn't something I had planned to give away. Of course, when people ooh and aah over it, I do what we all do....show them the goof up. LOL
