I have been checking some prices on quilts for sale on ebay...the "buy it now" quilts are hard to judge if they sell or not. Mine are starting to pile up and I think I've saturated the family for now LOL I love to try new patterns and the challenges at my guilds I do are fun but I really need to find homes for some of these? Have any of you had success selling any...I know people have no idea the funds that go into a quilt but???? I'm tempted just to put a fair price on one and see what happens LOL

Look for the option on eBay to search for only completed sales. That way you can see what quilts have actually sold for. I agree with you - you may have spent 200 hours and $300 on making a quilt, but once it's done the money and time are spent. Also you have learned from that quilt and had fun making it. It may be that getting $200 for that quilt would be more satisfying than letting it sit unused forever. On the other hand, you might be able to make profit, in $ if not in time.

You have to realize, that eBay is a big garage sale.

I sold a few quilts and tops but I probably didn't even get the cost of my fabrics from the sales. But I had to downsize at the time and it was better to get the much needed cash than giving them away. You can watch an item and see if it sells but I would bet you that it doesn't. I have watched sellers list again and again their Bargello tops and they just don't sell unless they drop the price. From what I have heard, you might want to check into Esty. People who shop on eBay (and that includes me!) are looking for bargains. If you have any question, please PM. Good Luck !!

About 10 years ago I listed a few quilts on Ebay for a friend. That was before their fees got to be so outlandish. A couple of them sold, but for the minimum bid. Photography is extremely important when selling on Ebay, as well as a thorough description. When people cannot see and touch for themselves, they are skeptical about buying. Multiple pictures showing the overall look and close-ups of the workmanship are essential in giving confidence to bidders.
