I would do a quick wash to remove moisture from your hands as well as 505 spray and starch. I would use minimum washing liquid/ powder and nothing else. I would also roll not fold flat and check every month or two to ensure getting crease lines.

In my world a quilt is not finished until it is laundered, that is the final step right after binding. So, I would definitely wash it

I don't use 505 but if I did, I probably would wash just to make sure the chemical are gone.

Thank you so much ladies, I guess a trip to the laundromat is in the future for me...I wish I had a larger washing machine but mine is a very old one but it washes well so can't see just getting a new one just to wash some of the larger quilts that I make...

I will post a picture of this quilt even tho it is just a Houndstooth quilt and nothing fancy. This is the first king size quilt that I quilted with my new Brother VQ 2400..and it went pretty good, I did have some puckers but I think it was when I put the three layers together and didn't get it down real tight. all in all I am happy with it, even with the puckers.. Thanks again for your help..

Yep, I wash every single quilt before storing. I just like the smell of clean.

I do not...I don't use glue, starch or sizing as I am constructing....my hands are clean, don't drag on floor, put aside covered until finished...so I just put into a pillowcase until needed. If it's mine, goes where I made it for....bed, table, whatever, gifted...as is.......

I always wash before storing. You never know what has gotten on fabric, you might not see it today. But weeks months or even years down the road, when you take it out you can find ministry spots. Look at all of the textiles that have little discolored spots on them, you know to the eye nothing was on that quilt before it was put away. Also I never leave any of the basting or glues down for any long periods of time.

I wash and dry all my quilts when the binding is done. If I need to give one away I know it will be clean. If I donate I write on the bag it is clean. If I mark it and I usually do, I want to make sure all of them are gone. I speard the quilt on my glass top dining table overnight to make sure it is totally dry.

Definitely wash it before storing. It may seem clean, but there are the oils from just your hands touching it while making it. You would hate to pull it out at a later date and find a stain.

Washing changes the look, improves the drape and overall softness - so a quick wash and gentle dry for all of my quilts. No poly batting in my quilts, so I am expecting the crinkle.
