Thread: washing a quilt or not, before storing

    I always wash my quilts after they are finished and I agree with Peckish about placing the quilt in a pillowcase before storing it in the cedar chest.

    The pillowcase will protect against any oils from the cedar staining the quilt.

    If it were mine, I would wash it before storage. I have never stored anything with 505, but I do know that silverfish love starch. Perhaps if it is going into a Cedar chest it would be ok, but I would still rather not take the risk
