I recently attended my local quilt guild meeting and the speaker made a wonderful point. To paraphrase:
Each and every quilter is an ARTIST.
Therefore our workspace (no matter small or mundane) should be called our STUDIO.
This hit home with me and from now on I am going to call my small place in the bedroom "my studio". I really like the idea - for some reason it makes me hold my work in more esteem.

A STUDIO it is! (Although it's a dining room too!)

that does sound better than "the junk room"! to me it has always been my studio, I've never had the nerve to say it outloud for fear of people thinking that I think "I'm all that!"

Very cool thought. :) This would then make my dining room (where I cut and measure), my kitchen (where I press) AND my bedroom (where I actually sew) my studio. Pretty large studio if I do say so myself. ;)

I dunno. I have grown kind of fond of "Woman Cave" which my husband has dubbed my sewing room.

I cut on my kitchen table for years and sewed in my bedroom, hand sewing in front of the telly etc, but a couple of years ago we decided to convert the garage into a work space for my painting and sewing, it has been wonderful to stretch out and close the door on everything when I am not in there! I started calling it my studio, but it seems to have taken on another names, like work room, sewing room, junk room and 'down stairs' as it is down two steps to enter! Over time all sorts of things have been brought down here, computer, DVD player, radio, dogs and cats baskets, lounge suite, sterio, book cases, I guess I should go check out how much space there is in the 'Chicken shed'!!!!!

Mine is called the WIFE CAVE....

My problem is when I was looking for a particular piece of fabric, hubbs came in and offered to call in the fire marshall to write me a citation..... His timing was way off my cave is usually very neat.
