Hi, my daughter is getting married this fall and I would love to make her and the "girls" bridesmaids a cute little purse for them to carry their phones, lipgloss and wallets in....any ideals.... and the wedding colors are royal blue, white and silver so I was thinking possibly more silver in color as the girls are wearing the royal blue dresses.... thanks for any ideals and pics if possible

I vote for snap bags. Add an chain link handle and done or whatever strap you think is appropriate. Make them any size, trim as desired! Here'a link http://tatteredgarden.blogspot.com/2...-tutorial.html Do a search on this forum for lots of inspiation.

This one looks gorgeous! Could be done in any color, of course, to coordinate with bridesmaid dresses.

Have you actually made one? If so, did it turn out to be as pretty as the one in the picture?

OH MY!! I made one almost exactly like this a few years ago.. just whipped it up for a formal bag to match my dress for "my mother of the bride dress" at sons wedding.... I got many compliments on it. In my case I used a scrap of the dress fabric ( crepe back satin-- in silver/grey) and I used a piece of matching silver/grey lace-- from the sleeves of the dress) to cover the fabric. The satin showing thru the lace was very nice. and then just draw stringed the own thing up with narrow ribbon ( as the closure of the bag), and I used a 1/2 inch ribbon braided with a strand of silver pearls and a strand of white pearls for the " strap".. I still have and carry the bag to fancy shindigs...

Clutch purses are very stylish and "now" (spoken as a secret fashion junkie!). They can have a thin strap (often chain, maybe with a ribbon threaded through) or just be left as hand-held. Personally I think the hand-held ones are far more elegant. I think in silver satin, possibly with blue beading or trim, they'd look very nice against the dresses.

Here's an example, but Googling "clutch purse pattern" brings up a lot of results.

I also have experience with this design. Nearly 10 years ago now, my boyfriend's mom made me a small purse like this to match my prom dress. Good memories. If you use the right fabrics it'll be beautiful! Oh, and with this pattern you won't have to mess with zippers.

I think you should stick to your idea of doing them in silver 'cause then the bridesmaids can use the purses again, too. Silver matches lots of other things.
