For my son's rehearsal dinner, I made table toppers. I did a narrow rolled hem on my serger. Afterwards, they are using them as napkins! With the narrow hem, you wouldn't lose much if you just trimmed them to "block size".

Couldn't agree more !! Our DD got married last fall, an outdoor wedding, and I had a list of neat ideas for sewing & making accents for the reception and decor. That list quickly narrowed down to a few !!
We made accent toppers for the tables and cake table, basket liners for favors and candy etc and some cute hanging banners. We also did a LOT of spray painting of other decor ... photo frames, outdoor lanterns and signs etc in her wedding colors ...
The time evaporates quicker than you can believe, no matter how "simple" you try to keep things, there is still SO much to do ... ! Good Luck and start NOW !!

I bet the pinking would work! Depending on style of wedding you are going for that might actually add a casual cozy element to the tables!

Only just noticed this but just to say I hope the wedding went well. Do you have any pictures of what you actually did in the end?
