Does anyone know where I could find a couple of free in the hoop embroidery projects? I really like the way they look but would like to try some and see if I like doing them before spending money on them. I have googled them and just can't find any.

I've never seen any free ones. I think they might be a little involved for them to be offered for free. Here's my favorite site, the sets are $10 (3 for 25) so you shouldn't have to invest too much to try:

Emblibrary.com has many, but not free. You can join and they have wonderful clubs and groups you can join and get them for free or very discounted. Examples are the birthday club, when you get $10.00 worth of designs for free, you can put things on your wishlist and every once in a while everything that is already on your wishlist of 50% off. I have been there a long time and have gotten many free patterns.

I have bought the packages of iron on embroidery packages...they are not very expensive (usually under two dollars). You simply iron them onto fabric and embroidery the design in any colors of your choosing. Another easy way to get designs is to find a coloring book and trace the design onto fabric. There are several online sites that offer embroidery designs for free also...one is Needle and Thread.
