Wendover material

Wendover material
I just bought some WENDOVER cotton material and I let it soak in cold water to let it bleed. It is still changing color of the water. What can I do? I guess I should have stuck with the Kona fabrics. So disappointed as I bought enough for top and backing. If you all have any ideas I would really appreciate your help. Thank you in advance

wash it- with detergent- rinse well, in cold water- then rinse it again with a color catcher- if it is still bleeding-wash it again- some fabrics need to be washed a couple times- and rinsed well- simply soaking in plain water doesn't accomplish much beyond getting the fabric good & wet.

I have found that if a fabric keeps bleeding after about 3 washes, if I let it dry then iron it, then wash again there will be no more color in the last wash. Gave this advice to BFF and saved her quilt which she was sure was ruined.
I always use very hot water and accordian fold fabric into the tub. When the water has cooled I lightly wring by hand then line dry. The very hot water takes care of shrinkage and color runs.
I've never had a problem and I wash every quilt when it is finished. Hand wash in wool mix.
