Default Name of this Quilt Block?

I tried searching online for a simple Boston Star quilt block. I just want to check to make sure I have the right name for the block I consider a Boston Star.

This is what I have always called a Boston Star. I saw it online called a Double Friendship Star. Are they both right?

There is a tutorial here on QB for the Boston Star http://www.quiltingboard.com/tutoria...al-t38879.html

The Double Friendship star on Quilterscache.com doesn't have the HST in the corners.

I am posting a tutorial using the Boston Star pattern.
When I named my Boston Block I saw a pattern called Boston Star and I used that to name my shortcut method.

But I wanted to double check that I was calling the quilt block I use by it's right name. I couldn't find anything online to prove me right or wrong. So I am asking for help to make sure I don't call it something it isn't in my tutorial

Ohhhhh, I see! I looked up "Boston Block" in the Book 5,500 Quilt Block Designs" by Maggie Malone and it has a listing for "Boston Block" but not "Boston STAR Block". The Boston Block doesn't look like your design at all. Jinny Beyers has a Boston Star Block and it is slightly different from your "Boston Star Block"

http://www.jinnybeyer.com/quilting-w...fm?blockid=136

Now, I did find some examples on the web of a double friendship block, other than Quilters cache, that looks just like what you are calling Boston Star Block in your tutorial.

Yep that's pretty much all I could find too. Thanks for looking. I appreciate it. I remember seeing this quilt block when I developed my shortcut in 2009 but now I can't find a pic of it except as you say in the Double Friendship block. But I swear the one I saw in 09 was called Boston Star.

Oh well they say you can call them anything you want. I just didn't want to confuse anyone or have someone tell me I was using the wrong name

Thanks for trying auntpiggylpn!

No problem! There are so many different name for each quilt block it would be impossible to list every possible name for each block.
