Hello,my name is Betty62. I am trying to teach myself how to quilt. The directions in the pattern I plan to use instruct me to "fussy cut" five 8-1/2 squares. However, I do not know what a "fussy cut" is. Would someone please explain how to make this type of cut? Thanks.

Hi Betty!
It's when you have a piece of fabric with a particular design that you want to include. I'm not explaining this right!
Say the fabric has big roses in it. You cut all the fabrics you want with the rose and seam allowance the same size.
Does this make sense?? It's late lol

It is when you trace your patch pieces using a template onto the fabric, add your seam allowance and cut each piece out individually.

I think I get it. Like you cut out the specific portion of the fabric design that you want to appear in your square? Thanks a million.
