What about this fabric for an OBW
#1
This is a dense fabric, but my daughter wanted a deep red quilt. I was considering doing an OBW with this fabric. I have 6 yds of it and the repeat is 12". Would the hexes look too much alike? I will use the fabric for her quilt, but I could use another pattern. If I use this, the OBW would just be the center of the quilt.
OBW?

I like the fabric. It is dense and similar colors. If done it would be very subtle color change for sure. Not as bold as some others i have seen for sure.
I personally think it would work. Whether it would turn out to your liking is difficult to say. But if you try and don't lime how they look together. You can try a variation. Either put different triangles in making it more a stack n wack. Or there is one that you put a strip of fabric on the outside and it turns into a type of star.

It would work but as others have said it would be more subtle. You could always add some hollow cubes or even some applique to spritz it up a bit - I did applique over my monochrome 'Orchidacious' so the OBW was nearly only the 'background' http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-92716-1.htm Just an idea...
