First of all, a correction: The pattern was designed by Marinda Stewart. Yes, Bearisgray, that is the quilt Isn't it pretty? Well, you have confirmed what I suspected. When I made 10 degree circle tree skirts, I used exactly 36 and it worked out fine. So until I figure out a better reason why, I will cut 40 or 36. Since the inner circle has 12, I am thinking 36 would be better? I just know that if you are much off, 41 won't be enough, and if you are off the other way 39 would be too many. I have a few others to do, but always on the lookout for the next or to add to the list. I just don't "get it". Oh well, cut 40 and always add one if I need to. Thanks PP for your math confirmation.

It was rather odd to me that one fabric in one section was deleted, but it was not noticeable until I looked at each section in the photo. It sure looks like a fabulous quilt! Hope you post photos of it when done!

Frankly, the 41 blades would drive me a bit crazier - and I do not "get" how that number was arrived at.
I have learned - the hard way - to trust myself more on some patterns. Sometimes when they don't seem to make any sense - they really don't make any sense.

I would follow the directions first and then make corrections. There are many pictures of this quilt made by different people and none said the instructions were incorrect. Unless there is an errata somewhere. I have searched and cannot find any.

First, check online for pattern corrections. If you can't find anything and it's still bugging you, contact the quilt designer. Many times they have blogs, FB pages, websites, etc.
I have made a circular quilt with a 9° wedge ruler, and I used 40 sections. I agree with your math.

Wow, Peckish that is pretty and with all those seams, there was plenty of room for mistakes, but they obviously didn't happen. Just stunning. Loved all the movement and the fabric, colors--everything.

I saw the picture and counted, and I agree with you, there are 41 blades in that quilt. But the math just does not compute. Very confusing.
