I found the idea of the Quilter's Dream Orient (bamboo and silk) very appealing, but a little research showed that the bamboo is processed with harsh chemicals. The bamboo itself might be organic, but that refers to the growing standards; the processing is not environmentally or people friendly. I read that it's possible to mechanically process the bamboo, but this would be extremely expensive, and I couldn't find a bamboo batting that was mechanically processed.
I use Warm & Natural in all my quilts - I find it easier to sandwich, plus it is much easier to machine quilt. Love your kitty, beautiful.
I use flannel sheets. they are soft and flat and are not too heavy for babys. I also use flannel on the back to really make it soft.

Quilting as I go , not in the ditch
for fire retardant reasons, only all cotton or all wool.
I have used a variety of poly batting a. Usually low loft. But if for a cold climate or for the floor... High loft.
I use high loft poly batting for most of my baby quilts. Makes them soft & fluffy. I do use W & N in some but don't like that they are so flat - not fluffy.
For babies, I use poly. I like the fluffy look for baby quilts.
Warm and natural or Warm Blend.
