I was going through my 5 boxes of scraps and trying to figure out a way to organize them. I'm tired of always digging through everything to find the right match! Then I had an idea.
I got some very large brown mailing envelopes and sorted the pieces that went together when I made the original quilt. I put them together in the envelope, labeled the envelope with the name of the quilt and put a picture of the quilt on the front of the envelope. I put them in a box standing up so I can see the names of the quilts without digging through everything. Now when I want some fabric I can go to that envelope, pull out the fabric scraps that match, and away I go. (At least it seems like this should work in theory - haven't tried it yet.

Sounds like a great idea! Or clear plastic bags.

I do this with leftovers from a quilt made, but use clear zip-lock bags

I started using the clear envelopes found in office stores.
They are large and you can see what you have. Especially good if you have a coupon.

Sounds doable to me!
I store my left overs in a gallon size zip lock bag, so I can see it without having to open it up.
