What is this called
Trying to finish up some UFO's. I have a baby quilt top finished with four pieces of binding. I know I sew one piece on the top, another on the bottom. That's all I remember. Anyone know what this style of binding is called. I need a you tube tute. LOL.

I am not familiar with a 4 piece binding, but with your "top and bottom" description can you possibly be referring to the binding with a flange that Charisma posted a tute on?

Is it the type of binding where you sew it to the top and bottom edges of the quilt first, and then to the sides? I have seen that style in my older Debbie Mumm books. I don't know what it's called though.

No, not this one. That one I've tried and like.

That could be the one. Several years ago ( yes it's been a UFO that long), an older lady used to come to our quilting group and she was doing it. Sadly she no longer comes to quilt, so can't ask her. I know the top & bottom bindings are totally finished. Then you add the sides, it elimanates the mitered corners. I always get two mitered corners right & two are always kind of rounded. Guess I've got a right left brain thing happening. LOL.

Here's a post from earlier this year. There are several links and looks like a couple videos:

I also found this post, you have to scroll to the binding section, but pretty skimpy on instruction:

4 piece binding
I don't know if it has a special name. It is an easier way to apply binding and doesn't even require bias binding, I believe. The trick is to leave enough extra on each piece to have enough to fold under so it will not slip out eventually. It also makes it easier to replace a section of binding that might wear excessively or get torn etc. I have been quilting for about 40 years and I am sure I have used it many times. It is much easier than getting just the right amount to make the turn around the edges of the quilt and a lot easier to pin etc.

Thank you, the debbiemumm was the one I was thinking of. For some reason I did top & bottom the correct way, but I was trying to make the sides a single fold and of course it wasn't working. LOL.
