a narrow white then either blue or red would look very nice.

A very narrow dark border like navy blue, dk brown or even black. The dark narrow border will give the eye some place to rest before moving onto the outer border. Then multi blue/read wide border.

You've laid out the blocks as if there is sashing. Is there, and if so, what will it look like? How wide do you want your borders to be?

Thin red than wide blue would be my choice.
