I like yellow, mint green, turquoise, and pink. Then, depending on the sex of the baby, the appropriate color can be accented.

I do bright colors for babies. They get past the black and white atage in something like 6 weeks.

I am sending along pix 2 of my really fast, but joyful baby quilts. Whenever possible, I put the fabric to work, with minimal sewing but lots of bright color and strong shapes. Many of the standard old fashioned star patterns work well as oversized blocks.

The second was a quilt in an afternoon, cut sewn pinned, birthed and quilted.

What a fun question . . . just remember anything goes in colors for babies! I recently made a quilt in red, gold, and sage with a touch of bright blue. It was fantastic and oh, so colorful! I am presently making one that is coral, yellow, and green. Most of all, just have fun! I've included a picture of a quilt titled "Posies 'Round the Cabin" found in "Creative Log Cabin Quilting", copywrite 2004.

That is ADORABLE! I love those colors! My problem? She's due in August (I just found out) so I;m kind of under the gun time-wise. Back in the day I always kept a "boy" & a "girl" quilt made up on hand for such "emergencies" but that was then & this is now. I'm keeping this cutie in mind, tho, for a future "just in case" baby quilt. Thanks for sharing it... it's precious!

Where did she go to school? Everybody around here goes to the University of Georgia, so black, white and red are very popular. I would use an old pattern, maybe something with stars or a log cabin, and make it child size.

She's a grad of U of WI, just like my DD, so it would be black, white & red... hmmmm.. there's an idea...

Please, please, please do not limit yourself to primary colors. Besides primary colors can be over stimulating for a baby. make the color interesting. Find a wonderful color you like and go from there. Babies no long are pink or blue or yellow or green. They are every color you can imagine. If you choose a color you like, it will make the quilt special because it will be for the baby but a reflection of.....you!
