What do you do with Cordoroy fabric?
#1
I got some cordoroy fabric at an estate sale, most in 3 yard increments. I was thinking, what can it be used for? Backing for quilt? Just seems so heavy after the cotton we normally work on, and I have about 5 pieces of it, all solids. Any suggestions would be nice

I am in the process of using corduroy in my Project Linus quilts. I am searching out small pieces of any washable (preferably cotton) with different "feels" or textures for kids who are blind or bedridden. A quilt made this way adds another sensory dimension to people stuck in bed or who couldn't "see" how their quilt looks otherwise. I have plenty of corduroy but suggest you think in this direction in using yours.

I have a small corduroy quilt made from all my daughter's toddler pants. It's also backed with corduroy and just has a flannel blanket as batting. It's not terribly heavy, but I also make wool quilts so I guess it's all relative. I don't think I'd mix the cord with quilting cotton though...as you said, they're quite different.
