After being a hand quilter for the last 13 years, I am now wanting to learn to do some machine quilting.
Here is my question, What is the difference between regular piecing thread and the thread you use for quilting? And what brand of Quilting thread do you like to use?

Hi Ninnie! I use YLI 100 percent cotton 60 wt for piecing and for quilting Superior Threads, either Masterpiece which is 50 wt or King Tut if I want it to be more prominent, which is 40 wt so a bit thicker and comes in delicious colours, either plain or variegated. I like the Superior Threads because they're not at all linty, although they are a bit more expensive, I think they're worth it. :-D

For wallhangings I use The Bottom Line by Superior. Is very fine and has no lint.

Yes, I use that in the bobbin for quilting. A friend uses it to quilt with on wall hangings as well but I've yet to try it - definitely will though! I love it - a bobbin full lasts for ages because it's so fine! :-D

Have fun with all the delicious threads out there. I do longarm on the HQ Fusion. I use just about anything. I mix my bobbin and top threads, cotton in one and poly in the other. If it is pretty, I use it!
