Piece of furniture for storage in a sewing room - being set up as we speak

http://tampa.craigslist.org/pnl/fuo/2256933137.html

I haven't gone to see it yet. But I love all the shelves.

I am trying to reorganize my sewing room/house. My DSGF (Darling Son's Girlfriend) is helping me redo the shelving in my sewing room. He has been going with her for over 2 yrs now.

My DS & DSGF spent a week at my home watching my 2 greyhounds (with ther 2 dogs) while we took a vacation.

She is an angel & is going to help me organize my house- I will tell you right now- if he breaks up with her - she will become my daughter and my son will become her DDBF.

The above piece looks like it would hold a lot of items - most of my fabric will be in the full length closet - but by only concern is - does storage have to have doors on it? Do you have to worry about the finish on the pieces you use to store items.

Do you think hubby will notice if I buy it and bring it home??? HEE HEE

Well....it's not like fabric you can hide just about any where....hmm.....cover it with a large piece of fabric?...... should do the trick. (so hubs does not see it?) LOL.....

Actually, it's a very pretty piece of furniture and looks like it would hold lots of quilting stuff. Especially your quilt books.

I like it. If you have the room, I vote YES!

I think it would be a good storage unit. Let me remind you, though, check to be sure it was not in a house with smokers. My husband bought a display case for his collectible knifes. It was from a smokers home. It was a nightmare. Who would have thought about smoke in wood furniture? No me.

I think it would be wonderful for storing fabric.

You bring up a good point with the wood finish touching the fabric. They always tell you not to store quilts directly touching wood. I would at least put shelf paper down, or get some laminate(formica) and just lay it on the shelves. All in all it looks like a deal! I'm sure your husband would never notice, except you might need him to help move it. That would probably give it away ;-)

I would never lay fabric directly on the shelves---protect them from the finish.
If it has been in a smoking home, you can set vinegar in shallow bowls on the shelves for two days, and most smoke will be gone....
If you want "doors", just put some velcro tape above the shelves, then on fabric, and hide with curtains--or use spring rods if that will work...
Have fun!
I am de-stashing right now--need to get back at it!
