Hope the colors in the pictures come through clear enough. I've taken one picture with the flash and one without. The blue fabric was originally purchased to use as sashing but after the fan was pieced I laid it on top of the blue and thought this might work but couldn't make up my mind. I've walked away and come back only to have part of me say I like it and the other part say not sure about this. What do you think?

I think a darker color may work better.

My personal opinion is that you need more contrast than the blue fabric allows, I'd either go very light or muslin for an old fashioned look or at least a medium rather than light blue.

The fan shows nicely against the background. So, long as you want it to be subtle, rather than to pop and wow. If so, you definitely need more contrast.

From the pics, the 1/4 circle turquoise does not go with the background or the fan. Although it could be the way colours are showing.

I'd also opt for more contrast - however, the neat thing about quilting is that everyone sees things differently = no matter what you decide it will be beautiful!

You can't tell in the pictures but the leaves of the flowers are the same shade of green as the fabric for the bottom of the fan. I know it's so hard to see those smaller things in a picture.

Only because you asked.........
I don't think the blue does anything for it.
I love the block and love the blue, just not together.

Personally, I think it needs more contrast. It's very pretty and relaxing looking, but I think because of the lack of contrast that you'll just see 1 big piece of fabric, in my opinion.

I appreciate everyone's opinion. Time to look for a different fabric. :-)
