What do you think of using a DRY IRON (no steam holes)
#11
I was looking at all the 2nd hand places for a solid plate iron (before all the awful happenings in the last few weeks) but I hadn't found one. I looked at Lowe's, my favorite store other than my fabric stores. nada
I finally bought one of the cheap little steam irons and have it for pressing my blocks, I have another bigger steam iron for ironing 'completed' articles (notice I didn't use the 'f' word??)
My LQS store owner told me a long time ago that a solid plate worked better for piecing. I resisted because I like the smell of the steam on the cotton blocks. But I know it distorts horribly, so I bought this little iron. NOW I see that they are available very reasonably at Home Depot. Who'dathunkit? I will buy my mother's day gift next week after the Roy shindig is over. lol lol

I always have a hard time getting the wrinkles out of my fabric. I thought using steam would help take care of the wrinkles, but it doesn't. I'll be looking for a solid plate iron.
Thanks for the Home Depot link.
Does anyone have one? Do they get hot enough to take out the wrinkles?
