What kind of thread do you use for rag quilts

Have a question for you rag quilters. What kind of thread do you use. Joann's is having a half price sale on thread this coming weekend and i'd like to stock up a little. Thanks

If I buy thread at JoAnns, I usually get the Gutterman threads. If they carry Metler, that's really good too. Coast and Clarks is not a great thread.

My first quilt was done with Gutterman's. (That is what the teacher told us to buy!)

thanks is there diffences in guttermans like polyester and cotton. if so which do you use

At my guild a couple months ago we had a "tread expert" speak to us. I used to think that you had to use "all cotton" thread but as long as it a good quality thread you can use polyester or even rayon if you want. I am talking about machine quilting. If you are hand quilting, there is a special hand quilting thread too.

I always just use the coats and clark , and so far have not had any problems.
