right, ladies as a beginner and quite ' green' about all this.. as I look at the free pattern links.. the fabric is all cut using strips ie, rotary cutter, and as I am hopeless with it, only use templates.. are there any free pattern sites that use this method.. as soon as i see ' cut strips' i'm off!!
I need patterns that say.. inch squares/triangles etc...

Hope you understand me

It would be easy to make your own templates.... just with paper, pen and a ruler. :-)

I like handwork... but I can't imagine sewing a whole quilt by hand... machine is SO much faster! :-)

I have EQ6, the quilt software, and it's brilliant. You can make any quilt design and it will print out templates, foundation maps, the works. And it automatically figures out all the seam allowances, and how much fabric etc.

I can't do strips to save my life. So I read thru the pattern where it says cut say 2 1/2 Ok. I cut squares that big. I'm disabled and don't quite grasp things so I do it FRANK SINATRA (my way) :D

check out your local quilt stores for classes, or ask store owners to put you in touch with other quilters for a one on one help session. most quilters love to share their knowledge and you'll have a new friend.
