Welcome to the Quilting Board!

Well you can physically sew with a 1/4 inch seam anything that is a 1/2 inch or smaller, so I would say a crumb is a piece of fabric that is 3/4 of an inch up to maybe 1-2 inches? Bigger than that and I can used it as a square in a 9 patch, so I wouldn't consider it a crumb anymore.

1" sized piece and up, any shape :D:D:D
I always say my crumbs are the scraps left from the scraps I just used.
Whatever they are, I have bags of 'em...precicious can't bear to part with them...Someday soon...., never mind, they're out of sight and mind....
To me a crumb is something too small to use to just piece a block with but it needs a foundation to sew it to. My crumbs end up in the trash!
How about a new bumper sticker, "quilters have crumbs in their beds"
