I am confused over what makes a design yours. I have been buying quilting books, downloading free patterns, buying patterns from my LQS and I find that a lot of what I have except in applique, the only difference is fabric print or color. There are only so many ways to do each type then all is the choice of fabric. In applique I have found many that are same too. After seeing the beautile silouette wallhangings I googled to find patterns and found many sites claiming the same designs from quilt shops, to wood and metal sites to clip art. When using one of these who do I credit with the pattern when all claim the same design…

Whoever's pattern you actually use is the one you give credit to.

Girl, just have fun! Don't worry about it so much. I consider the design mine if I thought of the entire process. If I used a pattern or design from another source, I consider it theirs. But, I don't make myself crazy about any of it. I give credit to the first pattern maker or designer whose work I use. Otherwise, I could spend eons trying to figure out how to do it just perfectly. Forget that....I have quilts in my head that need to get out!

you credit yourself!
after all when a person creates a flower applique do they credit the creator of that flower for giving them the inspiration? NO...
