What makes a quilt a Welsh Quilt?

Smile What makes a quilt a Welsh Quilt?

I was asked by a friend for some websites and quilt stores that I frequent because she wanted to find some quilt kits. She said her mother-in-law was going to make the quilt and that she does Welsh quilting. What exactly makes this type quilt different? I have never heard of this before. I know you guys would be able to tell me everything I needed to know.

To me, it's the quilted motifs that make them instantly recognizable as "Welsh" quilts, as opposed to American whole cloth or Amish quilts.
More "earthy" looking.
