Color for sure is the first thing that grabs my attention. But I think what really "WOWS" me is when someone produces a well constructed and designed quilt from their own mind. I have nothing against following a purchased pattern, but I am always amazed by individual creativity.

I look for the unusual use of color. Traditional quilts done in un-traditional colors. I am also so a sucker for unusual uses of florals. I can't explain the others, but there are a lot of them on here.

It has to have the "WOW" factor.

Good question.... I think it is the theme of the quilt for me.

Some quilts just speak of "simplicity" or "romance" or "whimsy" or some other overarching concept. When I can look at quilt and sense the theme and feel some emotional connection, then I utter a "wow".

Fabric and color attract my attention but it is usually a quilt designed around nature (such as landscapes quilt or animal themed ones) that makes me stop and look the longest.

I think color grabs me first and then the pattern and the quilting only when I can get close enough to actually stand there and admire it. From a distance it doesn't always show where color does.

The color and movement of the overall pattern. The quilting would be the third item that would catch my eye if I was close enought to the quilt.

Overall design, which includes colour, but colour alone won't hold me for long if there's nothing interesting going on with the rest of the quilt.
