Fingers crossed this works- I have tried a few times to post a picture of this block (pattern from Material Obsession Two) so that I can ask what block it is. The book gives a name for the quilt, but not the block.

I feel funny not knowing its proper name!

Aww- it will not load the picture.
Ok, it comprises a central hexagon, made from six shapes that I also dont know the name of- they are I suppose diamonds, but are actually big 60 degree triangles sharp points in the centre) each with a 120 degree triangles on the outside of the hexagon, if you know what I mean!

The entire block is made of those diamond-ish shapes. The easiest way to "see" it is as a series of larger equilateral triangles each made of three of the component pieces. Four of those triangles make up a bigger triangle and there are six of those in the block, giving a six pointed start with secondary points.

Hard to describe... can someone please recommend a website where they show different blocks and name them?!!!!

Thanks but that it not the problem. I tried with "load attachments" and it just would not post. Then I posted without the attachment and tried "add attachment" but it did not like that either. :-(

Is this the quilt you are talking about? Sixth photo down and the pillow that follows? http://kateconklindesigns.blogspot.c...session-2.html

Found it on the first link thank you (great site!)- http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=quilt+block+identification&view=detail&id=F2BBBB548CB84FF27BA39B610C2FA2C7EAEABB54&first=1&FORM=IDFRIR but there is still no name - it is "unidentified 1930s block". How intriguing. Maybe is HAS no name?

Anyone?

Got it!

From Maggie Malone's 5500 Quilt Block Designs (#4698) it's known as :
Colonial Flower Garden,
Rose Star One Patch,
Canadian Conventional Star, and
Hexagons

From the MSU Quilt Index (colonial flower garden quilt):
http://www.quiltindex.org/fulldispla...kid=1E-3D-1E97

From Lizard of Oz (rose star one patch):
