Default What possible color can I use for the quilting?

My daughter picked out the wild fabrics in the quilt. They were in a (extremely poorly cut) jelly roll she picked up somewhere. This is the pattern of quilt she wanted, so I made it for her. The fabrics are all herringbone type patterns, ranging from white on white to lime green, bright yellow, purple, pinks, and grays. I have absolutely no idea what color of thread to use for the quilting! I plan on doing a FMQ nested paisley-style design to soften the angularity.

Suggestions? It seems like a cream or beige or light gray would be a cop-out. The backing and binding will be a dark charcoal gray small print (to give a border to all those colors!).

Maybe a dusty blue thread. Or possibly Aurifil's Marrakesh variegated (#3817).

The other option I would really consider would be a silver metallic. A simple SITD would really glisten without taking away too much from the stunning colors you daughter selected.

I would go with a medium gray.

I would go with a light to med gray. You would be surprised how it just disappears into the quilt.

I like the color combination on this quilt. It's also so unique.

Grey would be my first choice for a more subtle look, but purple is the choice if you want to highlight the quilting. Purple compliments all the colors in your quilt. You could use the same color as the purple strips or a shade lighter or darker.

I think grey would be my first choice also. However, if your daughter has a "favorite" color among those in your quilt, you might try that.

I would try to find a variegated thread that picks up some of the wild colours, I think it would be fun and would go well with the playfulness of the quilt. To me, thus is not a quilt that wants to be subtle and understated in any way.

Here's my 'out of the box' thought. If you want the quilting to really stand out, I'd be VERY tempted to use black. I know that sounds weird, but I think it would be really cool with all those really neat colors.
