Hi everyone,

I have been avoiding showing my complete computor ignorance by asking about this for a while (smile)...However, I reeallly would love to download patterns and eventually would love to know how to learn to use that EQ6 program etc..
With past subjects I have researched (painting etc..) I have downloaded programs such as adobe, 2-3 different microsoftwords ( all way outdated now, by the way) that I was told I would need to open this file or that program etc..
I'd then try to download/open say a spreadsheet or whatever with one of the above programs (saved it to documents or where ever)- never to be found again and or had no successes figuring out how to use it.
I am now willing to try it one more time (jaw clenched in determination lol)

My Question is, to download patterns and or run the EQ6 program..What do I need to do those things? Adobe? A microwsoft word program? PDF?..If anyone could offer any advice/info/help on this...Man, it would be soooo appreciated lol

(learning to get pics on comp and the forum will be next lol)

I hasve downloaded many PDF files, never had any problems opening them until last week. I got to looking , I always had Adobe READER ON MY COMPUTER, BUT FOR SOME REASON, IT IS NOW GONE. Others messing on my computer!! Now I am going to have to buy the A.R program, and that makes me mad. But, A>R> is what you need to open PDF files.

Carol, the same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago - Adobe had gone missing. Just go to their website and it'll download for free.

You don't have to buy Adobe Reader, you can download it free from Adobe:

http://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions/

:)

I don't know anything about EQ6, though. Sorry.

Most patterns available for download are in pdf format, so you would need to download the adobe reader program. It is free and available at adobe.com

I save all of my patterns to My Documents, I make different folders to put them in. This makes finding them later easier for me.

EQ is it's own product. As long as your operating system is compatible, you just install it to your computer :D:D:D

To download patterns, you don't need the program. But to open EQ6 files, you need to purchase the program either EQ6 or EQ7. I have EQ6, but if I were buying it now, I would buy the new version. It will open the older files. Go to http://www.electricquilt.com/

Thank you very much everyone...I'll update my adobe(ty very much for that link oatw) and look into purchasing EQ6-7(and thanks for that link dungeonquilter..Ha! love that name) or maybe another one a little easier to understand for my first time out...
I've researched the board on different programs, Quilt Design wizard- QDW etc... I know they don't do as much as EQ7 but, for someone that can't even get a pic online ( or make a folder-lol amma)..I don't want to be overwhelmed and give up (laugh).. That, or get a techy person to coach me through it...Thanks again

(strolling back in... proud lil sing song voice> III got adobe 9, I gooot adobe 9 lol)

Good morning. You could check this out, free demo, too. About 40$ to buy, MUCH simpler than EQ an easier to use. http://www.quiltpro.com/page/123_Quilt_mainpage
