I am trying to help a friend of mine who has some very old sentimental hankerchief's. We are in a process of making a quilt (she does not make quilts but is so very eager to try). After cutting out the background pieces where the hanky is going to be sewn we came up with a fun pattern, situating all the squares. Here is my dilemma, sewing the hankerchief to the square should I use a pellon backing so the fine fabric has stability? Since this is my first time trying this method, I am a little confused. Please Help!

I think with the fabric being so fine you should go with a lightweight fusible interfacing. I wouldn't go anything heavier than that because you want to give the fabric some stability and if you go heavier it will make the fabric too stiff.

I agree with using a lightweight and soft stabalizer.

I agree - a lightweight fusible interfacing should work perfectly
