What size is a single bed quilt

I'm making a single bed quilt for an dementia suffer. The family asked for single bed roughly. So far the top is 45" by 63" will this be large enough?

I found this link to a chart of bed/quilt sizes. http://www.generations-quilt-pattern...ilt-sizes.html

You may need a few more inches on the length.

I usually go by the size of pre-cut batting . Hobbs twin size is 72"x90". So many items are different from the USA compare to England are different.

How much overhang do you want on each side?
Is the mattress 'normal' height or one of those 'extremely tall' mattresses?
Also consider the size of the person the quilt will cover. A taller, larger person might need a slightly wider/longer quilt than a smaller/shorter person.

    http://www.sleepexperts.com/mattress-sizes
The link above shows the top of a twin mattress to be 39 x 75.

    http://www.quiltmaker.com/articles/S...dard_Bed_Sizes
    Quiltmaker suggests 68" x 89".

    Good Luck!

I tend to make them around 60 x 90 as I like to have enough quilt to get snuggly. When I first made myself a quilt I was horrified when I saw how long it was, but I'd say it's definitely the perfect length for me :-)
