Oh my gosh, that is stunning! Did you use an embroidery machine or do it by hand? If machine, what kind, seems large for that? I just love it.

Oh! man, your pillow is gorgeous! I love red work and I use to love to embroider but arthritis kinda prevents me from doing any kind of handwork but I sure do appreciate seeing what others do. Nice job.

I've done a dragon and flames twin size quilt for my oldest grandson , rainbow quilt for his sister quilts for their younger twin brothers with motorcyles sprot one for their brother and ateddy bear quilt for their new sister. Boy am I glad I'm almost don. But my niece like the baby quilt now she wants one but I have tiMarch for that one. Need a little break. I have had alot of time to quilt since my operation. Hope everyone has a great Christmas

Thanks so much for sharing the pictures of your beautiful Cathedral Window ornaments. Think I might start making some of those for next year.
I have been trying to satisfy my need for "instant gratification" by making mini quilt wall hangings for my grandson's first holidays. I did a Pumpkin Patch for Halloween, a Pilgrim Turkey for Thanksgiving and of course Santa for Christmas. I'm hoping that each holiday in the future, will find one of my creations hanging up for him to enjoy year after year. I plan to continue doing a mini for each month of his first year.
During the holidays it's been too busy for me to work on large quilts so I do my mini's and lots of applique work. I'm saving the bigger quilts for after the holiday season is over.

Ty, what a wonderful idea. Please post some pictures, as many of us are always looking for inspiration. The idea of making a mini quilt for each month for your grandson is just that sort of inspiration.

Hi Ty....your idea of the mini quilts sounds great! Please post some pictures. I have made 5 full size quilts. Although I enjoy doing them they take me a long while (because I'm constantly working on other projects as well). Also since we retired and moved to a much smaller house my sewing area is very small. I'm looking at doing smaller projects. I would love to see some of the things you have done.

I have just read through all the comments and pictures and am absolutely flabergasted at all the talent out there. You all are to be commended with your work. How wonderful, and I must say I am so, so glad that I am on this quiltingboard. Even if I don't "chime in" much, I do enjoy reading everyone's reply. Hopefully, after the holidays I will begin my quilting again. I certainly have picked up some marvelous ideas already for making two future quilts!

Well, JudyJo, you've done it again. I've never really liked red work until I saw your pillow. The red sashing sets it off so well. Turned it into a work of art instead of just some embroidery. I made the Cathedral Window ornament, and now I have to make a redwork pillow. You've inspired me again!! :D

Thanks Norah! Glad I inspired you. I've seen quite a few red work or blue work quilts at the county fair the last couple of years. They are really beautiful! I'm working on a redwork wall hanging (actually it's a bright pink) of sea shells for my bathroom. It will be done the same with the sashing, etc. I enjoy doing embroidery. It's nice to be able to combine it with the quilting. How did your CW ornament come out?
