A little while back someone asked what is your least favorite part of the quilting experience. I want to know what is your favorite? I have two favorites The very beginning (designing the quilt and figuring out what colors and fabrics to choose. And the end ( quilting it. I like to fmq and I am getting better all the time. Like they say it takes practice, pratice, pratice.) That is the last chance to put your individual "stamp" on it.

Which ever phase I'm in at the moment - as long as it's not seam ripping! I love the thinking about and planning phase, but then once I get started I could piece for days on end and be perfectly happy. When I can get it over to the long arm, I think that's my favorite part - seeing it all come together. Then hand sewing on the binding is so relaxing. When it's all done I get to start from the beginning again and am happy about that!

Love all of it except basting. Hard to find an area big enough to do it at my house. And the 4 dogs want to help.

I love chooseing and cutting the fabric out, sewing the binding down, means it is finished!

For me, selecting which fabrics will make the "cut" and putting on the binding. This gets me excited because I know it is almost finished.

But....there is one more thing. If I made it for someone else, I love the part where I put a photograph of his/her smiling face into my record. I realize this not actually quilting but it gives me a great deal of satisfaction to have visual memories of the person and how much they loved what I made.

Oh, I hear you I do have a large all season room that is big enough, but my four dogs want to help too. Plus it is getting harder to crawl around on the floor. Getting old stinks :)

I like the planning part best. Deciding on a pattern, auditioning fabrics - going fabric shopping, drawing out the pattern (if necessary), make the step list.

My favorite part is giving it to someone and seeing the smile on their faces when they open it. Although my quilts are far from perfect, they are so loved it makes it all worthwhile.
