I have a couple of oak shelves with the rod under the shelf to hang quilts on, a quilt rack in my bedroom. I put a sleeve on mine. My ceilings are 11 ft. 8 in. In my sewing room I have one wall I can hang a queen size quilt on. I used large hangers like you would put on the back of a bathroom door to hang your robe on, then bought a closet dowel, and it rests very nicely on them.

Thank you all for the ideas and websites to go to. This has helped me tremendously, too.

The sleeve is made 3/4" short of each side of the quilt. Then a 1/4" x 2" stick is cut 1/4" short of the total quilt width. A small hole is drilled 1/4" in from the top and out side edge of stick, at both ends. The stick goes through the sleeve. I attached the stick to the wall with "T" pins through the hole and tapped into the wall. It makes a small hole that usually isn't noticed.
