You have a choice to do them now, or to put them on after the quilting, like you would binding. I think it is easier to put them on to just the top and have that part done while there is less weight to wrestle with. But they can be added after every thing is done. We have ladies who do it both ways. We hand quilt and having the points on first is no problem. Don't know how that would work for LAQ. :?

That's really cute!

Can't help you with prairie points. I've never done them or at least I don't think I have.

I have only done praire points one time (so far). Didn't come up with the idea until ready to finish off edges, so had to put them on after quilting, which to me was very nerve-racking because you have to really maneuver the quilt to ensure you don't catch the batting/backing when sewing the prairie points onto top. I vowed then that next time I did them, I would put onto the top before quilting. Of course, the issue of when to put them on likely makes a big difference on whether YOU are quilting by hand or on your domestic machine or if you are sending to long-armer. If you use LA services, make sure you check with them first. Hand-quilting, I would put on before sandwiching. Don't quilt with domestic machine, so perhaps someone who does can give you better advice on which way to do it.

Good luck, you will like the prairie points.

I put them on first. I love the effect prairie points give to a quilt. So sweet.

BTW, are you going to use just one color, or pull all the different colors in from the quilt for your points?

I"m using all colors (orange, yellow, pink, blue, green). I did make a 1" finished orange border. I just finished folding the rest of my points. I miscalulated. I just hope its not going to be to busy.

That was my thought to pull all of the colors in your blocks to the outside. I think it will look pretty.
