I don't know what else to call it

I'm looking for a large pattern with maybe a star pattern in the center and work out from there with blank space and a border or two. Overall size being around 48" square. I saw one in the pic section yesterday but forgot everything about it! Not sure how to enlarge a, say, 12" block. Does any of this make sense?!

    TIA, Karen

I would think that you can take any block pattern and multiply the measurements to get to the size you want it to be. For example, if you have a 12" lone start block adn want it 48", you multipy each piece by 4, taking out the seam allowance. So using a 9patch, you would have 9-4 1/2" squares. To make it 48" you would have 9- 16 1/2 squares and sew together. I hope this kind makes sense!!!

If you are talking about this one:
    http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-39486-1.htm
    it is a carpenters star.

That quilter's cache site does have a 24" Carpenter's Wheel. Perhaps just double the the sizes.

I did a Sara's star using 12 inch squares but into HST it fit the top of the bed and put borders on it to make a queen size.
