While we're contacting HGTV, we need to tell them to air her show or any sewing/crafting shows in the evening!!! It's sad for those of us who have work to support our sewing addictions, HGTV show all the good shows while we're headed to work. Once we finally get to our sewing rooms all we get to see is gardening and redecorating. I have nothing against those, but really how many shows do those topics need??

Thats a great idea, I drive a school bus for special need children so I always miss it. I was looking forward to my 2 1/2 wks off, mainly so I could watch Alex.

I just went to the HGTV web site. Their program guide (I checked 1 Feb 07), list of "What's on TV", "Shows Z-Z" all still include Simply Quilts. So either they've kept it on after all or they haven't updated their web site.

I'm already at the office before 8:30 most days, so won't be able to check until Monday morning. I'm going to be really cranky if they've cancelled it. Crankier still if I can't access all the episodes through the web site. Talk about a treasure trove of ideas, instructions, web links, and inspiration!!!

For as long as it lasts, the link to the list of all episodes is

Two falls ago at Quilting in the Garden we were told that Simply Quilts would be going off of the air at the end of 2006. This fall Alex told us she was pod casting. You can find her pod casts on her web site
    http://alexandersonquilts.com./main.php

or on the i-tunes site with a free down load/play.

Also, while surfing around, I found this web site.

It seems Ricky Tims and Alex Anderson are partnering up to do a quilt show on the internet to be viewed at any time you want. You'll have to subscirbe. Not sure $$. They hope to have it up and running by April.

Alex says her contract with HGTV prevented her from competing with them after they canceled her show. It was interesting to listen to her and Ricky explain their new plans.

Not sure how much longer Simply Quilts will be on HGTV but the schedule can also be found on Alex's web site.

They cancelled it. I emailed them when I first heard the rumors quite a while ago, as did a kazillion of other quilters from all over, but all to no avail. It seems when they make up their minds to dump a show, they DO. Millions of quilters don't matter at all to them. My entire guild added their voices, but nothing mattered. We got polite form letters, that's all. I will miss her show. I always had my second cup of coffee while watching and frequently took notes.

At least you got a letter! I emailed AND snail mailed, and got no response at all. Now about all they run on HGTV is how to sell your house or decorate it. Too bad they don't realize the buying power of quilters.

I, too, miss Alex. I have watched her shows for several years. All of a sudden they were gone. I e-mailed HGTV also, but to no avail. I am a little leery to pay $25 per yr to watch a show that may not be that good. Has anyone paid the money and has seen a show? Is it worthwhile?
Please let the rest of us quilters know. Thanks and happy quilting!

Yes! I am a paid member of thequiltshow.com! You have to have at least a DSL connection to watch the shows, but I am very happy I paid! Each one of the shows seems to improve on the ones before & Alex & Ricky Tims work very well together! They are supposed to be putting in more 'how-to" segments in the upcoming series of shows, and they have been showing new tools & info on threads & how to pick photos to use in your quilts. Alex & Ricky seem to be having lots of fun & so does the studio audience. I have been lucky enough to attend lectures with both Alex & Ricky in the past, so maybe I was already biased to like their show! They bring plenty of humor & laughter to their quilting, and "in person" they appear to be just regular folks like us. :D

Thank you for your reply. I have DSL so I should be able to watch it.
HGTV has done us a great injustice and they don't care. I don't even watch HGTV anymore.

I was one of those kazillions Bev and I didn't even get a nice form letter. I miss her show. I even loved the re-runs. I learned so much from watching her and her guests. It was on DIY around here until just a few weeks ago. Only three times a week, but that was better than nothing. I DVR'd it so I'd never miss it. Ah well. Good things don't always last forever.
